+   Toyota secured its fifth straight overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans as drivers Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa led a 1-2 Toyota finish. More at the UK Guardian. 

 Russia’s Industry Ministry expects car sales to tumble more than 50 percent to 750,000 vehicles in 2022 as the nation’s manufacturers struggle with supply issues. More at Reuters.  

+   Detroit artist Hubert Massey has been commisioned to create a giant mural on the sound barrier wall outside the new $1.6 billion Mack Avenue Jeep assembly plant. More at The Detroit News. 

 Tesla Inc. will ask its shareholders at its annual meeting on August 4 for permission to execute a three-for-one stock split, increasing its authorized share count to 6 billion. More at Barron’s. 

 Ferrari is teasing images of its 2023 Hypercar entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the Italian sports car maker hasn’t competed for an overall victory in half a century. More at Autoblog. 

+   Three drivers were arrested in Dearborn, Michigan for doing burnouts in front of police headquarters, with all three cars impounded and two of the vehicles forfeited. More at The Drive. 

+   Joining Arizona and California, Michigan is now the third state in the USA where drivers can order digital license plates for their cars, paying a monthy subscription fee. More at Car and Driver. 

 Chinese electric car maker Nio reported a deeper than expected $281.2 million loss in the first quarter as the company was hammered by COVID-related plant interruptions. More at CNBC. 

+   Protesting the recent spike in fuel costs, striking truck drivers in South Korea have slowed production by 50 percent at Hyundai’s giant assembly plant complex in Ulsan. More at World Auto Forum.

 A group of 24 rare European classic cars from the Pierre Héron Collection, many in barn find condition, will be offered at Artcurial’s Classic Le Mans auction on July 2. More at Sports Car Digest. 

+   Series officials confimed that the Busch Light Clash will return to the quarter-mile temporary oval at the Los Angeles Coliseum to open the 2023 NASCAR Cup season. More at Speed Sport.
