Today’s headlines: 

+   Ford will officially reveal the updated 2021 F-150 pickup online on June 25, with production scheduled to begin in October at the company’s Dearborn truck plant. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+   Germany’s Ministry of Economics has proposed a $5.6 billion buyer bonus plan as part of an impending stimulus package in an effort to boost new car sales, sources say. More at Reuters.

 The Executive Board of the United Auto Workers is seeking the dismissal of Region 2B director Richard Rankin, charging he made a “sexually violent threat” to a female worker. More at The Detroit News. 

+   The Mercedes Formula 1 team is opposed to a plan to experiment with reversed-grid qualifying races, which requires unanimous agreement from the 10 member teams. More at Motorsport.com. 

 Chinese ride-sharing giant Didi Chuxing raised more than $500 million in funding for its autonomous vehicle division, in a round that was led by SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2. More at CNBC. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is reportedly developing a lightweight ACR (American Cup Racer) version of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for the 2021 model year. More at The Drive. 

+   After a 17-year break, the Mach 1 name will return in 2021 on a track-capable Mustang powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with 460 horsepower and a base price of $50,000. More at Car and Driver.  

+   The Antique Automobile Club of America’s annual swap meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania has been cancelled for the first time since 1955 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. More at Hemmings Daily. 

 General Motors reports that the C8 Corvette’s base price will remain at $59,995 for 2021, while two new colors, Red Mist Tint Coat Metallic and Silver Flare Metallic, have been added. More at Automobile. 

+   Next week’s NTT IndyCar Series season opener at Texas Motor Speedway will go forward as planned without spectators, but with prime-time network television on NBC. More at Racer.

  1. It’s one blow after another for the UAW. Reuther must be spinning in its grave. They need to clean it all up now and let the chips fall where they may and put it behind them.
