+   Stellantis is scaling back production and temporarily laying off workers at its plants in Warren, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio as it grapples with lower sales and bloated inventories. More at The Detroit News. 

 Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton took a record-breaking ninth British Grand Prix in a chaotic wet-dry race at Silverstone, breaking a 56-race losing streak. More at NBC Sports. 

 Spy photographers have captured images of a camouflaged BMW Neue Klasse EV Coupe in testing that appears to be equipped with hub-mounted electric motors at the front. More at Autoblog. 

+   At Cadillac, sales of the CT4 and CT5 sedans fell more than 30 percent in the second quarter, but rising demand for the Lyriq EV helped to keep total volume on the level. More at The Drive. 

+   Following a better-than-anticipated deliveries report, shares in EV maker Tesla rose 27 percent to $251.55 in the past week, erasing all the previous losses of the year to date. More at CNBC. 

+   At the Chicago Street Race, NASCAR and Swedish technical partner ABB unveiled a prototype with 1,300 hp and crossover SUV styling for a proposed all-electric racing series. More at The Verge. 

Ten years after a sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum swallowed up eight historic Corvettes, the museum has opened an exhibit with five of the cars, since  restoed. More at Motor Authority. 

 At Mid-Ohio, IndyCar officials declared the first race with its hybrid drivetrain package a success, though the Chip Ganassi Racing entry driven by Scott Dixon suffered a failure. More at Racer.

  1. NASCAR’s Goodys Dash series often had better racing than Cup. But the series failed because the sound of the 4 and 6 cylinder engines didn’t generate sufficient testosterone with the fans.

    Name the last race winner or a past series champion in Formula E.
