+   General Motors is asking the U.S. Treasury to reconsider classification of the Cadillac Lyriq EV, which is currently over the price ceiling, to allow it to qualify for tax credits. More at Reuters. 

+   Pickup trucks from Ford, Chevy, and Ram again led the list of the USA’s top-selling vehicles in 2022, but Tesla broke into the top 10 for the first time with the Model Y crossover. More at CNBC. 

+   Mercedes-Benz has won approval from the Nevada Department of Transportation to deploy Drive Pilot, its Level 3 autonomous driving system, on public roads in the state. More at The Drive. 

+   FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem hit out at what he described as “adverse reaction” from Formula 1 personnel to Andretti Cadillac’s stated intentions to enter the series. More at Racer. 

 VinFast, the Vietnamese startup automaker, announced it will start taking orders for its subcompact VF6 and compact VF7 electric SUVs in the United States in March. More at Car and Driver.

+   Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said if the economy and consumer demand worsen, it could mean the end of  the Cherokee plant in Belvidere, Illinois, and other plants as well. More at The Detroit News. 

+   At CES in Las Vegas, Peugeot unveiled the Inception, an EV concept with striking looks and 671 horsepower, but there are still no plans to return Peugeot to the U.S. market. More at Autoblog.

 Popular Australian drag racer Sam Fenech was killed and a camera operator was injured when his Pro Slammer Camaro left the track at high speed at Willowbank Raceway. More at ABC (Australia).
