 After withdrawing from merger negotiations with Honda, Nissan is actively looking for a new partner, with electronics giant FoxConn of Taiwan viewed as the likely candidate. More at World Auto Forum. 

 Ford exceeded Wall Street expectations for its top and bottom lines in the fourth quarter, although the automaker predicted a tough year ahead due to market headwinds. More at CNBC. 

+   Subaru introduced the 2025 Forester Hybrid with a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a total of 194 hp, and a 0.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Elienisse Zoe Diaz, a seven year-old first grader, died from injuries received several days earlier when her NHRA Junior Dragster crashed at Orlando Speed World Dragway. More at Autoweek. 

 Tesla sales plummeted 59 percent last month in Germany, where CEO Elon Musk asserted himself in the nation’s internal politics, endorsing far-right AfD leader Alice Weidel. More at The Detroit News.  

 Corvette exterior design manager Kirk Bennion has left General Motors, becoming the third leading member of the Corvette design team to leave the company in the past year. More at The Drive. 

 Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark says the British car maker has a plan to keep its powerful V12 in production through 2030, and bring back manual transmissions, too. More at Autoblog. 

+   A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that won Le Mans in 1965 and spent years in the collection of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway sold at auction by RM Sotheby’s in Paris for $36.2 million. More at Motor Authority. 

+   Two Republican U.S. senators are demanding that CEO Jim Farley explain why Ford ended its 40-year relationship with Jack Cooper Enterprises, a vehicle transport firm. More the Detroit Free Press. 

 NASCAR officials this week introduced specific penalty options for manufacturers in an update to the rule book aimed at deterring organized attempts to alter race outcomes. More at Jayski
