 Automakers and charging networks are urging the Department of Transportation to restart a $5 billion EV infrastructure program canceled by the Trump administration. More at U.S. News & World Report.  

+   Shares in Porsche AG fell 7 percent, its worst drop since listing, after the carmaker warned that the cost of new models and battery-related expenses would dent its 2025 profits. More at MSN.

 Ford Motor announced it will pay an annual profit-sharing bonus of approximately $10,208 to 48,000 hourly employees in the USA represented by the United Auto Workers. More at The Detroit News. 

+   FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is considering the elimination of team radio from Formula 1 TV broadcasts as he escalates his campaign to stop foul language by drivers. More at Motorsport Week. 

+   Tesla is raising the price of the falcon-doored Model X crossover by $5000, but is reintroducing a free Supercharger charging sales offer for the Model X and and Model S. More at Electrek. 

 Autonomous vehicle developer Waabi will partner with Volvo Autonomous Solutions, with the company’s AI technology to be used in the development of SAE Level 4 trucks. More at Autoweek. 

 A new data study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) determined that large, heavy vehicles are not necessarily safer in a collision, contrary to popular belief. More at Motor Trend. 

 Reportedly, the gasoline-powered Blazer SUV will no longer be offered in the United States after 2025, as the Ramos Arizpe, Mexico plant will be devoted exclusively to EVs. More at Car and Driver. 

 The Corvette SS XP-64 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum collection will be offered by RM Sotheby’s on Feb, 27-28, when it is expected to bring up to $7 million. More at Motor Authority. 

 Fearless NASCAR journalist Ed Hinton, who covered the sport for the Orlando Sentinel, The Atlanta Journal, The Chicago Tribune, and ESPN, has passed away at 76. More at Jayski.

  1. Ever since the second-gen Trax came out the Blazer’s looked like the rough draft of it. Partly because the Trax refined the style themed the Blazer introduced and partly because it’s just easier to style a small car than a bigger one, or at least harder to screw one up because of tighter packaging requirements.

  2. Rest in Peace to the great Edward Talmage Hinton, an extraordinary investigative motorsports journalist who was instrumental in championing numerous safety improvements including driver head and neck restraints, and improved catch fences to protect spectators…
