+   The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor, which may offer an optional supercharged V8, will make its debut in a presentation on the company’s YouTube channel on February 3. More at Car and Driver. 

 Executives at Hyundai are reportedly divided over the potential car-building tie-in  with Apple, with some fearful of the company losing its autonomy to the U.S. tech giant. More at Reuters. 

 Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis says the company’s V8 Hellcat engines will not survive due to fuel economy concerns, but their performance levels can be maintained with electrification. More at CNBC. 

 Wayne Taylor Racing kicked off the 2021 American racing season with its third consecutive Rolex 24 at Daytona victory, this time with an Acura ARX-05 prototype.  More at Racer.  

 A federal judge has approved extradition to Japan for two Americans who are charged with helping deposed Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn to flee the country. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Jeep reported that the Gladiator will be offered with the same 4xe plug-in hybrid drivetrain used in the Wrangler, while the Grand Cherokee will also get a hybrid variant. More at Autoblog.  

+   GM sources confirmed that the final assembly line at the Bowling Green, Kentucky Corvette plant will be shut down until February 8 due to supplier chain issues. More at The Drive. 

+   U.S. District Judge David Lawson signed off an agreement between the United Auto Workers and the U.S. Attorney’s office in Detroit to reform the scandal-plagued union. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Top sales at the 2021 Bonhams Scottsdale auction included a 1959 BMW Series II Roadster at $1.8 million and a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SC Roadster at $698,000. More at Sports Car Digest.com. 

+   Newly-appointed Formula 1 CEO and president Stefano Domenicali says the series must stay engaged in social justice issues through its We Race As One campaign. More at Autosport.com.

  1. When I was a child, an elegant couple in our building had an old Mercedes similar to that one. We thought they might be diplomats or international jewel thieves. Very glamorous. I have wondered about owning a similar car but the price takes it out reach.
