+   Volkswagen has reached an agreement in principle to provide “substantial compensation” to the owners of about 80,000 3.0-liter diesel vehicles that fail to meet emissions standards. More at Reuters.

+   Ford Motor Company will invest $60 million to redevelop three city blocks of downtown Dearborn, Michigan for retail business and office space for the company. More at Crain’s Detroit Business. 

+   The Environmental Protection Agency has rejected a petition from auto industry lobbying groups that called for the agency to postpone stricter new fuel mileage requirements. More at The Detroit News .

+   Hyundai Motor America has fired its CEO, Dave Zuchowski, replacing him temporarily with Jerry Flannery, executive vice president and general counsel. More at USA Today. 

+   Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost says the Formula 1 schedule still has too many grands prix in Europe and that the sport is missing out on crucial markets. More at Motorsport.com.

+   Audi will debut a near-production concept version of its Q8 flagship SUV at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit next month. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan has appointed Chris Shires as its new executive director, replacing long-time museum head Michael Spezia, who retires in February. More at Hemmings Daily.

+   Jerry Seinfeld’s online show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee has launched its ninth season with vehicles from Volvo, Porsche, and BMW and appearances by Kristen Wiig and Lewis Black. More at Autoblog. 

+   Celebrity cars once owned by jazz singer Al Jolson and television host Dave Garroway will be featured at the Gooding & Company Scottsdale Auctions next month. More at Classic Cars.com

+   Richard Childress Racing will expand to eight full-time entries for the 2017 NASCAR season, with three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams and five Xfinity Series teams. More at Racer.
