 Used car retailer CarMax reported a sharp decline in third-quarter revenue and profit, hurt by weaker demand for and falling prices of used vehicles in the United States. More at CNBC.

 Despite the European Union proposal to abandon a 2035 deadline for a ‌total ​shift to fully electric vehicles, EVs are still the future in Europe, analysts and ​experts predict. More at U.S. News & World Report. 

+   Tesla owners are buying escape tools to avoid getting trapped inside their vehicles, which can be difficult to exit in an accident or fire due to their door release designs. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Retired NASCAR Cup driver Greg Biffle, his wife, and their two children were among the seven fatalities in the crash of his private aircraft at Statesville, NC Regional Airport. More at Fox Sports. 

+   The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a probe into the recall of 331,401 Jeep vehicles in which the rear springs may have been installed improperly. More at World Auto Forum.

+   Mercedes-Benz Group announced a sweeping management overhaul that includes the departure of design chief Gorden Wagener, as CEO Ola Källenius consolidates control. More at CBT News. 

+   Two Nissan Skyline GT-R owners are suing WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca after a track worker drove a large tractor into their vehicles during a red flag on the track. More at The Drive.  

+   In canceling the F-150 Lightning pickup, Ford Motor Co. is pivoting away from its once-ambitious electric vehicle plans amid losses and weakening demand to focus on hybrids. More at MLive. 

+   The non-hybrid 2026 Honda Accords feature a larger 9.0-in touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and a list price below $30,000. More at Car and Driver. 

 Formula 1 and the FIA have finalized new terminology for the 2026 cars, amid a radical change in regulations including the elimination of DRS and an increase in electrical energy. More at Racer.

  1. So many things had to go wrong for Biff’s plane to crash, especially with three pilots. Videos of the crash and fireball are gut wrenching, the facts of the matter a nightmare.
    Sincere condolences to all involved…

  2. The retarded door handles and continous Jeep saga seems to be the old joke where 2 fools met: world class automotive engineering & NHTSA (but not nearly as absurd as the blinker fluid/radar leak/paint recall for those self-drivers last week).

    Another all-dayer that only pays 3 hours??? On page 4 of the Stallantis FLA US L.L.C. Safety Recall 64A/NHTSA 23V-413, one can see there is vitually nothing at all holding these rear springs in place even when “installed correctly”. I recommenda loop of #9 galvanized fence wire twisted tight thru the spring pigtail and around the axle tube would retain those pesky coil springs- consider using a double strand of #9 for HD appplications.

    Virtual reality and “AI” of the post-modern world forced down your throats will always lack the common sense and adaptability of human intelligence…
