 The new vehicle market in China reached a historic milestone in July as more than half the cars sold for the month were battery-electric powered or gasoline-battery hybrids. More at Reuters. 

+   Dodge has announced pricing for the electric Charger Daytona coupe, with the 496 hp Daytona R/T starting at $61,590 and the 670 hp Daytona Scat Pack listing at $75,185. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Nilu27, a new company founded by designer Sasha Selipanov, has unvield the Nilu hypercar, powered by a normally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 with 1,000 hp coupled to a manual gearbox. More at Autoblog. 

 Argentinian touring car champion Agustin Canapino has been released from the Juncos Hollinger Racing IndyCar team effective immediately, replaced for now by Conor Daly. More at Racer. 

 Rivian Automotive beat Wall Street’s top- and bottom-line expectations for the second quarter as the electric vehicle maker continues to slash costs in its operations.  More at CNBC. 

 Nissan reports it has developed a type of automotive paint using thermal coating technology that is just 120 microns thick but can reduce vehicle cabin temperature by 10 degrees. More at The Drive. 

 Kia and Hyundai’s anti-theft software upgrades have deterred car thieves, but theft claims remain high even after the new hardware is installed, according to a new report. More at the Detroit Free Press.
