+   Ford could manufacture next-generation Ranger pickups and Bronco utility vehicles at its Michigan Assembly plant in Wayne, just west of Detroit. More at The Detroit News.

+   Ten major automakers were sued this week by U.S. consumers who claim they concealed the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning in more than 5 million vehicles equipped with keyless ignitions, leading to 13 deaths. More at Reuters. 

+   The Russian government has destroyed 1.5 tons of food intended for the BMW DTM sedan racing team, apparently in retaliation for sanctions over the conflict in Ukraine. More at the UK Guardian. 

+   Jeep will offer a hot rod version of the Grand Cherokee powered by Chrysler’s 707 horsepower Hellcat V8, to be known as the SRT Trackhawk. More at NBC News.

+   Denso Manufacturing’s Maryville, Tennessee auto parts plant is expanding with a $400 million investment that will generate 500 new jobs. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   According to a new study from the American Automobile Association, gasoline prices are at their lowest point since 2004, with a nationwide average of $2.59 per gallon. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Oshkosh Defense of Wisconsin has won a U.S. government contract to produce a replacement for the aging Humvee, besting Humvee maker AM General. More at The Washington Post. 

+   The wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of deceased sprint car driver Kevin Ward Jr. against Tony Stewart has been moved from New York state court to federal court. More at Racer. 

+   The 2015 Auctions America Auburn Fall sale on Sept. 2-6 will feature more than 800 vehicles, including a 1954 Corvette Nomad show car replica. More at Hemmings Daily.
