+   According to the Highway Data Loss Institute (HLDI) the most frequently stolen cars in America are Nissan and FCA products, including the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat. More at Autoblog.

 Strong truck demand drove increased revenue at General Motors, as the automaker posted $2.4 million in earnings, a 1.6 percent rise versus last year. More at The Detroit News. 

+  Acura is teasing a photo and video of its all-new Type S concept, which will be formally introduced in a private session on August 15 during Monterey Car Week. More at The Drive. 

+  Michael Scumacher’s former team boss says the Formula 1 legend is able to watch racing on television as he struggles to recover from a 2013 skiing accident. More at the Evening Standard. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles reported a net profit of $884 million for the second quarter, a 14 percent improvement the company credited to solid Ram Truck and Jeep Gladiator sales. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 The noted Ed Muerer Jr. collection of more than 90 American collector cars will be offered at the RM Auctions annual Auburn Fall sale, most with no reserve. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   Cliff Daniels has replaced Kevin Meendering, crew chief for the struggling Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Jimmie Johnson, effective immediately. More at Motorsport.

+   Shares in Aston Martin plunged after the British carmaker posted a disappointing first half loss of $43 million and takeover rumors continued to circulate. More at Automotive News Europe.

+   Second-quarter earnings at BMW slipped by 20 percent, hit by unfavorable exchange rates and increased investments in electric and hybrid vehicle development. More at Reuters. 

 A McLaren M6B that ran under the Shelby Racing banner in the 1968 Can-Am series with driver Peter Revson will be offered at the Bonhams Quail Lodge sale. More at Hemmings Daily. 

 The IndyCar series will adopt a hybrid powertrain formula for 2022, with a twin-turbo V6 engine combined with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) to supply 900 hp. More at Racer.
