+   Toyota and Mazda announced they will invest $2.3 billion in a new joint venture assembly plant near Huntsville, Alabama, $830 million more than the original 2018 plan. More at Reuters. 

+   General Motors’ first female chief financial officer, Dhivya Suryadevara, has resigned after two years to take a similar position with a San Francisco internet company. More at the Detroit Free Press.  

+  Porsche has set new executive-class sedan lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the upcoming 2021 Panamera four-door with a lap of 7:29.81. More at Car and Driver. 

+   The U.S.-owned Haas Formula 1 team is poised to sign the Concorde Agreement and will extend its partnership with Ferrari, says team principal Guenther Steiner. More at Racer. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced that the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock, which is based on the SRT Hellcat Widebody, will sticker price at $81,090. More at Autoblog. 

+   Daimler announced it has reached agreements in principle to settle U.S. claims over emissions from 250,000 Mercedes-Benz diesel cars and vans for $2.2 billion. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Steve Carlisle, president of General Motors North America, announced at the JP Morgan Auto Conference that the new Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV will be priced under $60,000. More at Motor Trend.

+   Gooding & Company’s inaugural Geared Online auction generated nearly $15 million in sales with a sell-through rate of 71 percent and five cars bringing more than $1 million. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   Tesla Inc. will split its stock for the first time in its history so more investors can afford to buy a stake in the electric car pioneer, with a 5 for 1 split effective August 31. More at USA Today.

+   Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso  clouted the Turn 4 wall with his Arrow McLaren SP-Chevrolet in practice for the Indy 500, but was uninjured. More at Motorsport.com.
