 General Motors confirmed that a new Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup with 400 miles range will be built at the Hamtramck, Michigan plant alongside the Hummer EVs. More at Green Car Reports. 

+   Ford sold 153,822 new vehicles in China in the first quarter, scoring for a 73.3 percent year-over-year gain and the automaker’s fourth consecutive quarter of growth there. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Hyundai confirmed that the standard Veloster will be available for the 2022 model year, countering reports that the base version of the sporty coupe will be discontinued. More at Car and Driver. 

 NASCAR and its manufacturer partners Ford, General Motors, and Toyota will unveil their radically modernized 2022 Cup race cars in a live-streamed event on May 5. More at Fox Sports. 

+   The Biden administration’s $174 billion electric-vehicle program calls for $100 billion in new rebates to electric car buyers and $15 billion for 500,000 charging stations. More at Reuters.  

 Spy photographers captured Ford engineers testing a 2022 F-150 Raptor R alongside a Ram TRX, signaling that the TRX is the Raptor R’s competitive benchmark. More at Autoblog. 

+   The historic Lime Rock Park course in Connecticut has been sold by Skip Barber to a group that includes Airstream president Dicky Riegel, who will serve as CEO. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   Top sales in the RM Sotheby’s Open Roads March auction included a 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale A at $500,500 and a 2009 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR roadster at $434,500. More at Sports Car Digest. 

 Sales are booming at Rolls-Royce as the British ultra-luxury carmaker delivered 1,380 vehicles in the first quarter, a 62 percent increase over the same period last year. More at CNBC.

 Santino Ferrucci, 2019 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, will return to IndyCar for the Indianapolis 500 next month in a third entry from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. More at IndyStar.
