+   Daimler Truck agreed to a new labor contract with more than 7,300 hourly workers represented by the United Auto Workers at six U.S. plants, averting a strike at the last minute. More at Reuters. 

 Donald E. Petersen, the former Ford Motor Co. chairman and CEO whose hands-on leadership is credited with saving the company in the 1980s, has passed away at 97. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 Struggling EV maker Fisker warned investors in an SEC filing that it could seek bankruptcy protection within 30 days, as cash reserves shrink and it plans more layoffs. More at Autoweek. 

+   Driver Nico Hulkenberg will join the Audi Formula 1 project by moving to Stake in 2025 with a multi-year agreement, bringing an end to his tenure with the Haas F1 Team. More at Racer. 

 Genesis unveiled an updated version of the GV70 compact luxury SUV for 2026 with revised styling and a  27-inch screen serving as instrument cluster and infotainment center. More at Car and Driver.

+   EV maker RIvian has filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a pickup tailgate that can also be equipped as a complete workbench. More at Motor Authority. 

+   The U.S. Department of Justice has closed its probe into the Mercedes-Benz diesel emissions scandal and the carmaker is no longer facing charges, the company reported. More at World Auto Forum. 

+   Sources say the Buick Electra-L EV sedan will enter production in China next year with an Ultium platform boasting 342 hp, but as yet there are no plans to bring it to the USA. More at Autoblog. 

+   At Wood Brothers Racing, founded in 1950 and now under three generations of family ownershp, Jon Wood is assuming team president duties from his father, Eddie Wood. More at Yardbarker. 

+   Kia will bring a high-performance GT version of the EV9 electric SUV to market in January with “enormous power” from its twin motors and a 0-50 mph time under four seconds. More at Motor Illustrated.
