 Mitsubishi Motors North America COO Mark Chaffin says the company is interested in bringing out a compact pickup truck to compete in the Ford Ranger category. More at The Drive. 

+  Ferrari Formula 1 principal Mattia Binotto admitted that Mercedes-AMG has the better car after his team slumped to its fourth straight loss at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. More at Racer. 

+  An exhibit called Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy with 40 famous movie cars will open at the Petersen Automotive Museum on May 5. More at Hemmings Daily.

 Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, backed by American mega-investor Warren Buffett, reported a 632 percent jump in its first-quarter net profit to $111 million. More at Reuters.
