+   Share prices in Tesla Inc. stumbled this week as the electric carmaker’s quarterly statement was much worse than expected, recording a loss of $702 million or $4.10 per share. More at Market Watch.  

 General Motors is adding 400 jobs and a second shift at its Bowling Green, Kentucky plant as it ramps up for production of the 2020 mid-engine Corvette. More at The Detroit News. 

 Former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn, jailed yet again by Japanese authorities, was released on $4.5 million bail and the condition not to contact his wife. More at Nikkei Asian Review. 

+  Plans to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in downtown Miami have been tabled as promoters, led by Miami Dolphins owner Steven Ross, seek an alternate location. More at Racer. 

+   Although profits at Ford slipped 34 percent in the first quarter on $40.3 billion in revenue, earnings exceeded analysts’ estimates at 29 cents per share. More at The Detroit News. 

+   According to Carfax, there are 1.6 million cars on American roads with false mileage readings, as hackers have mastered how to manipulate digital odometers. More at NBC 12 in Richmond, Virginia. 

 Kenworth has broken ground on a $140 million expansion of its Chillicothe, Ohio plant, which produced nearly 40,000 Class 8 trucks and semis in 2018. More at Commercial Car Journal. 

+   A factory lightweight 1965 Plymouth Super Stocker formerly raced by Arlen Vanke and Ed Miller will be offered at the annual Mecum Indy auction next month. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+  Ford Motor Company has applied for trademarks for the names Scout and Bronco Scout, suggesting that the badges could appear on an Escape-based subcompact utility. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+   IndyCar series champion and Indy 500 winner Will Power says he would like to race for Team Penske in an Australian Supercar at Bathurst and on a NASCAR oval. More at Motorsport.com.

  1. How on earth does Tesla survive losing hundreds of millions?
    Especially considering every car they make is subsidised by the Government.
    As for Bronco, I would have thought Ford had that name tied down. As for Scout,,, who owns Internationals trade marks.

  2. Although, as an “old school brush dog,” I appreciate that the lettering isn’t decals. That said, It’s a little sad that some of the basics are slipping through. Like using the ground as a reference point for horizontal instead of the rocker panels or door sill, jacking the front of the car up to level it. The “G” on the driver’s door, should been a wipe off while the paint was still wet.
    Things like that that are too obvious. You can get away with a ton of little mistakes, that gives the car character, but some are too obvious.
