 The attorneys general of California and 17 other states have asked a federal regulator to recall certian Hyundai and Kia vehicles due to their greater vulnerability to theft. More at Reuters.  

The Canadian government has offered to provide up to CAN $13 billion (US $9.7 billion) in subsidies to Volkswagen over the next 10 years to build an EV battery plant in Southern Ontario. More at CBC. 

+   Ford announced that due to customer demand, it will export a limited number of F-150 Lightning pickups to Norway, currently the most advanced EV market in the world. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Kenneth McAlpine, who funded and drove for the Connaught sports car and Grand Prix teams and competed in seven Grand Prix events in the 1950s, has passed away at 102. More at the UK Guardian. 

+   Jaguar Land Rover says it plans to phase out the original Land Rover brand and realign its products under the Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery sub-brand names. More at Motor Trend. 

+  Honda revealed its next wave of prototype battery-electric vehicles for China at Auto Shanghai 2023, including a pair of crossovers due in early 2024 and a sedan to come later. More at Autoblog. 

+   Fully autonomous driving is “basically impossible” and the technology would be better applied to manufacturing, according to Li Yunfei of Chinese battery and EV maker BYD. More at CNBC. 

 Stellantis announced that it has begun testing synthetic fuels, also known as e-fuels, on 28 engine families across its brands, in an effort to keep its internal-combustion products viable. More at The Drive. 

 The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus two-row crossover, which features a 48-inch display screen and a 28-speaker audio system, will be built in China and sold in the USA next year. More at Car and Driver. 

+   NASCAR Cup driver Kevin Harvick, 47, who earlier announced his plans to retire at the end of this season, will make his 800th career Cup start at Talladega this weekend. More at Fox Sports.

  1. Many Americans will be upset, but the Lincoln Nautilus isn’t the first car to be built in China and sold in America. Volvo, Buick, Cadillac, and others are already here.
