+   Ford will begin shipping to dealers 144,000 F-150 and Ranger pickups that it held back to correct quality problems, and is resuming shipments of F-150 Lightning EVs. More at Autoblog. 

 Volkswagen announced plans to invest $2.68 billion in China to expand its production and innovation hub in the city of Hefei in Anhui Province with local partner XPeng. More at Reuters. 

+   General Motors is planning three weeks of downtime for its Fort Wayne, Indiana, plant to prepare for production of the next Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. More at The Detroit News. 

 Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso has signed a contract extension with Aston Martin that will keep him on board through 2026, eliminating a possible move to Mercedes. More at AP News. 

 A new analysis by BloombergNEF projects that by 2030, Tesla’s Supercharger electric vehicle charging network will be earning $7.4 billion in annual revenue from EV drivers. More at InsideEVs. 

 Ed Iskenderian, the 102 year-old founder of Iskenderian Racing Cams, received minor injuries when he was assaulted by a homeless man, who was quickly arrested. More at Hemmings.

+   Chevrolet is teasing the introduction later this summer of the ZR1 Corvette based on the mid-engine C8 platform, hinting that it will easily top the previous 755 hp version. More at Autoweek. 

+   Toyota has unveiled the 2025 4Runner SUV with two new trim levels, Trailhunter and Platinum, and an available  i-Force Max hybrid package that offers a total of 326 hp. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Construction of Gordon Murray Group’s new headquarters in Highams Park, UK has been completed and production of the first T.50 supercars at the site is now under way. More at Motor Authority. 

 Robert “Bob” Labonte, longtime NASCAR fabricator and crew member and father of NASCAR Hall of Fame drivers Terry and Bobby Labonte, has passed away at age 90. More at Jayski.
