Ken Block’s Gymkhana Five video: downtown San Francisco pillaged, plundered

Well, this is stupid awesome. See the car? That’s Ken Block in his Ford Fiesta Rallycrosser. He just flew through the two traffic barrels. Backward. Smoking all four tires. Watch the video after the jump.

Fifth in a series, DC and Ken Block present Gymkhana Five Ultimate Urban PLayground, San Francisco was filmed over four days. And yes, these are the actual streets of San Francisco being torn to shreds.

Check out the cable car action, and watch for Travis Pastrana on a dirt bike in a cameo role.

  1. wow, i bet that was fun to plan. wonder how many months of logistics and how many hundreds of forms from the city that took?

    • Sure it’s juvenile but cinematically it’s pretty darned impressive. It’s cool to see all those SF landmarks flying by, too.

  2. Whenever I do that my wife screams and tells me to slow down. “We’re going to tip over!” No we’re not… He loses one of the many GoPro Hero cameras at 3:37.

  3. Definitely one of the most fun car videos I’ve ever seen. The second jump where he did it sideways and maybe brushed the wall was my favorite.

  4. But dare I ask why? government world wide are waffling about ‘Hoon’ driving. And this is a total example of it. It is not motorsport at all just fantasy and stupidity.

  5. My nearly-four-year-old grandson loves to watch Ken Block videos repeatedly. Which probably says something. They are entertaining but there’s something that really bugs me – I can’t stand the sound of an engine banging against the rev limiter. Now I know young Ken is fairly busy while he’s driving so I can understand him not having a lot of time for throttle modulation. But is it really necessary to sit there with it bouncing off the limiter before the car is even moving? Maybe I’m overly sensitive about it but to me it’s like a baby crying…

    • I was thinking exactly the same thing! Bouncing the engine off the chip seems to be part of the aesthetic.
