EyesOn Design 2013 Preview

Bill Mitchell’s fabulous Riviera Silver Arrow I is one of several hundred exceptional cars set to appear at EyesOn Design at the Edsel Ford House this coming Sunday.

Next Sunday, June 16, is Father’s Day, and we know what that means: time for another EyesOn Design show at the posh Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. In support of a great cause, the Detroit Institute of Ophthamology, the show focuses on styling and design, drawing some of the most memorable cars around.

The theme for 2013 is “Revolution over Evolution — highlighting revolutionary changes in auto design.”  The special categories this year include Classics, Hot Rods, Thunderbirds, European Exotics, Chris-Craft wooden boats, and a special Pure Michigan exhibit featuring cars built in Jackson, Michigan. Here are a few of the vehicles that came out for a special media preview earlier in the week:

1948 Chrysler Town & Country Convertible owned by Greg Ornazian

1958 Cadillac Sixty Special owned by Steve and Gloria Wolken

1911 Jackson owned by Todd and Faith Holton

1950 Vincent Rapide owned by Edward Van Rossen

1954 Chris-Craft 18-ft. Utility owned by Theresa and Mark Tucker

1967 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible 427 owned by the Ken Lingenfelter Collection

1948 Cadillac Custom owned by Roger and Dea Chestnutt

1963 Plymouth Station Wagon Detroit Police Cruiser owned by George Patak

1963 Buick Riviera Silver Arrow I owned by the Sloan-Longway Museum, Flint, MI

EyesOn Design is the place to be for Motor City Gearheads on Father’s Day. Get the kids to take you—hours are 10 AM to 4:30 PM. The Edsel and Eleanor Ford House is located at 1100 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe, MI 48236, right on scenic Lake St. Clair. See you there.

  1. Our ’33 Continental Flyer will be in the “Revolution over Evolution” class. It’s the only known running Flyer in the western hemisphere.

  2. Great to hear! Fascinating car, can’t wait to see it again. Thanks for bringing it out for all to see.
