To showcase the new Mustang Mach-E and the automaker’s electric vehicle capabilities, the Ford Motor Company created a monster.
One of the drawbacks of electric vehicles, according to motorsports traditionalists, is that they don’t make any noise. But that certainly isn’t the case with the Ford Motor Company’s latest R&D toy, the Mustang Mach-E 1400. It puts out a scary, blood-curdling shriek. But then it’s got seven electric motors, five more than the production Mustang Mach-E crossover, and together they put out a monstrous 1,400 horsepower—hence the name, Mach-E 1400.
Three of these motors are mounted in the front, four in the rear, running through a set of programmed differentials that can adjust the torque to all four wheels in any conceivable manner. Couple this drivetrain with an aerodynamic package that produces more than 2,400 lbs of downforce, and you have a vehicle with, as Liam Neeson memorably said in the movie Taken, “a very particular set of skills.” :If the Tesla has a ludicrous mode, we wouldn’t begin to know what to call this machine.
“Getting behind the wheel of this car has completely changed my perspective on what power and torque can be,” says Vaughn Gittin Jr. of RTR Vehicles, which created the Mach-E 1400 in partnership with Ford. “This experience is like nothing you’ve ever imagined, except for maybe a magnetic roller coaster.” To show off a bit of what this vehicle can do, Ford produced the video below, which also features a number of well-knoiwn Ford race cars and their drivers, and together they put on some show-biz razzle-dazzle. Ford is currently investing $11.5 billion in electric vehicle development worldwide, and we’re glad they put aside a couple of bucks for this. The 1,400-hp creature will be making its public debut at a NASCAR event in the near future, Ford says. Video follows.
Ofcourse they fail to tell you all that battery power lasts less than a set of tyres while drifting. And the fact it is VERY heavy.
And how much ‘throttle’ response it does not have.
Electric cars are good shopping trolleys, quiet with adequate power and then send your electric bill through the roof to feed.
Whatever they tell you they are not suitable/ practical for much else.
And how much a ‘refuel’ lasts and costs in comparison too a petrol car.
We will not ofcourse talk about the time it takes. Your 6 hour trip turns into an 8-10 hour trip while you wait for it to charge.
