The annual Motor Muster at Greenfield Village in Dearborn is one of the Detroit area’s most popular collector car shows. Here’s a photo tour of this year’s event.
As we never get tired of saying here at Mac’s Motor City Garage, there may be no better place for a vintage car show than Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. There are acres of green lawns perfect for vehicle display, while the historical setting is a picture postcard come to life. And the avenues around the village seem made for pass in review and low-speed touring. We don’t know that Henry Ford ever envisioned such events when he created his wondrous historical theme park, but he could have.
The venue is so suited to the purpose, in fact, that it hosts two major collector car events each year: the Old Car Festival on Labor Day weekend for vehicles built before 1933, and the Motor Muster on Father’s Day weekend for vehicles of the 1930s through the 1970s. (For more info, visit The Henry Ford’s Motor Muster page.) The Motor Muster always hosts an impressive variety of vehicles: cars and trucks, domestics and imports, fire, commercial, and military vehicles.
This year’s event seemed to feature an especially nice selection imported sports cars, but maybe they just happened to catch our eye. And since this is Dearborn, there were plenty of great Ford products, too—from early V8s to second-generation Mustangs. The show has always been known for its great diversity. We weren’t able to take in the entire weekend’s activities, but here’s what we saw during our walk-around on Saturday. Gallery follows.
Curious how participation looked after last year’s debacle.
I attended the show on Saturday and the car count was as good as it’s ever been. The Henry Ford seems to have owned last year’s debacle and made it right; Motor Muster is back to being one of the best shows of the season, in my opinion.
Thanks Aaron. Good to hear!
Actually the Old Car Festival (for pre 1933 cars) is Sept 8 & 9 2018, the weekend following Labor Day weekend.
