WHAT: The 2014 Ypsilanti Orphan Car Show

WHEN: Sunday, September 21, 2014

WHERE: Riverside Park, Ypsilanti, Michigan (map here)

What are orphan cars? They’re the castoffs and misfits of the car world—the lapsed and failed brands that make automotive history so rich and fascinating. To give you an idea, here are just some of the vehicle categories for this year’s show:

Packard, Nash, Studebaker, Pre-war Independents, Kaiser-Frazer, Orphans of the Big Three, Brass Age, Hudson, American Motors, Corvair, Trucks

Additionally, there will be a special feature category this year for orphan station wagons. In total, more than 230 vehicles are registered for the 2014 meet. The Ypslanti Orphan Car Show is widely regarded as the finest event of its kind.

Naturally, you can look for complete coverage of the event here at Mac’s Motor City Garage. In the meantime, here’s a small gallery of cars from past years. We’ll see you there.

  1. Definitely one of our favorite events of the year in one of the coolest little car towns in the world. It has been a family tradition for us for many years starting with breakfast at the Bomber and dinner at Sidetrack. Make sure to visit the newly re-imagined Hudson Museum just a couple blocks away.
