Carroll Shelby stars in 1967 Ford commercial

Carroll Shelby’s been gone only a short time, but we miss him already. Fortunately, we have this appearance by Shelby in a 60-second television spot for the Ford Mustang in 1967. 


Bits such as this remind us what a dynamic speaker and natural-born salesman Shelby was in his prime. Truly, here was the man who could pitch air conditioning to Inuits.

The GT350 and GT500 Mustangs are pictured in the commercial, but the push is for the entire Mustang lineup.The setting is the futuristic (for 1967, anyway) Los Angeles International Airport, which is of course where Shelby American was based in those years. Check it out:
