 Stellantis sales in the USA fell 21 percent in the second quarter compared to last year with all of its major brands—Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, and Dodge—suffering steep declines. More at The Detroit News. 

 Short sellers of Tesla shares lost $3.5 billion in two days after the electric carmaker turned in a better-than-expected deliveries report, sending the share price up 17 percent. More at CNBC. 

+   The German government blocked the planned sale of Volkswagen unit MAN Energy Solutions’ gas turbine business to a Chinese company, with ministers citing security reasons. More at Reuters. 

+   With the closing of Stewart-Haas Racing, NASCAR Cup driver Josh Berry has signed a multi-year contract to drive a Ford for Wood Brothers Racing, replacing Harrison Burton. More at ESPN. 

+   Fisker has asked the judge overseeing its Chapter 11 proceedings to approve the sale of more than 3,000 Ocean electric SUVs for about $14,000 each to a vehicle-leasing company. More at Autoblog. 

+   Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh crushed the 0-400 km/h-0 record and set three additional speed marks driving a Jesko Absolut with a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 and 1,000 hp. More at Car and Driver. 

 At the Aspen Ideas Festival, Ford CEO Jim Farley emphasized the need for the U.S. auto industry to pivot towards smaller, more affordable EVs and away from large, heavy models. More at CBT News.
